# Live Development requests

> Use Development credentials safely: Development is a real environment, not a mocked or free sandbox.

AvraAPI’s Development environment uses the live AvraAPI host and your own Development project credentials. It is useful for integration testing, but requests are real.

## What Development means

| Development provides | Development does not provide |
| - | - |
| A credential boundary separate from Production | A fake API host or automatically mocked provider result |
| A safe place to validate your integration configuration | Free, consequence-free requests |
| Support for approved documentation Playground testing | Permission to use Production credentials in documentation tools |

Depending on the provider, a Development request can consume credits, send a message, create an artifact, or contact an upstream service.

## Safe testing rules

1. Use only your own Development Client ID and Client Secret.
2. Send `X-ENV: development` or `X-ENV: dev`.
3. Use controlled test recipients and test content where a provider can trigger a real action.
4. Do not place Production credentials in Mintlify Playground, frontend code, examples, or screenshots.
5. Review provider-specific credit and delivery behavior before executing a request.

## UPG testing

For UPG, gateway profile environment is separate from the project’s AvraAPI environment. Use a controlled provider Sandbox/Test profile when the gateway supports one. Availability chooses Production by default only when both active profiles are configured and no explicit server-side override is supplied.

<Info>
  Mintlify Playground coverage is limited to reviewed public microservice endpoints. UPG checkout, Wallet, Workspace, Vault, destructive, and administrative operations are guides only and are never publicly executable from the documentation site.
